Description
"See something or say something" maps by Eric Fischer comparing where people tweet versus where they take photos in cities around the world, revealing different patterns of urban documentation and experience. Fischer mapped geotagged tweets (in blue) alongside geotagged Flickr photos (in red), with overlapping activity shown in white. The resulting maps reveal that people photograph tourist landmarks, parks, and scenic spots, while tweeting more evenly across residential and commercial areas. Fischer's data visualization projects, hosted on Flickr, illustrate global trends in social media usage, taxi trips, tourist versus local patterns, and have been widely exhibited and published, including at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
