Description
Typographic city maps by Jenny Beorkrem using neighborhood names to create the shape of cities. First created for Chicago in 2007, Ork Posters turn urban geography into readable text art where each neighborhood's name is sized and positioned to fill its actual geographic footprint. Beorkrem, a graphic designer based in Chicago, expanded the series to cover dozens of US cities including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, and others. The posters became popular housewarming gifts and home décor, spawning imitators in the typographic map genre. Beorkrem published "Map It: Illustrating the Mapping Process" in 2013, and the business grew from a side project into a studio.
