Data visualization of Nike+ FuelBand activity data by Fathom Information Design (Ben Fry's studio) for Nike, published around 2013. As reported by Fast Company, "Nike FuelBand is giving its 1 million users individual activity portraits for last year, courtesy of a data viz from Fathom Information Design." Fathom created personalized "Year in NikeFuel" visualizations for each FuelBand user, representing a full year of activity data in a single graphic. The radial visualization encoded daily activity levels, streaks, and milestones. The project demonstrated how personal fitness data could be transformed from utilitarian dashboard numbers into an aesthetically compelling portrait of a person's physical life over time.
