Description
Visualization of scientific literature and citation networks by W. Bradford Paley, Kevin Boyack, Dick Klavans, and others. The Map of Science shows relationships between scientific disciplines based on how researchers cite each other's work, revealing the structure of human knowledge as an interconnected landscape. Using data from hundreds of thousands of scientific papers, the map positions disciplines that frequently cite each other closer together, creating clusters for physics, biology, medicine, social sciences, and engineering. The visualization was featured in the "Places & Spaces: Mapping Science" exhibit curated by Katy Börner at Indiana University, which traveled to libraries and museums worldwide.
