Description
Conditional design and generative art by Luna Maurer, a German-born, Amsterdam-based designer and artist who co-founded Studio Moniker with Roel Wouters. She blends digital technologies with physicality to explore human characteristics and social behavior. Conditional Design is a method she co-developed with Edo Paulus, Jonathan Puckey, and Roel Wouters starting in 2008, exploring rule-based systems and participatory drawing processes — participants follow simple instructions that produce complex, emergent visual patterns through group interaction. The method was published as a manifesto and workbook. Maurer studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie and Werkplaats Typografie. Her work has been exhibited at Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Museum of the Image in Breda, and numerous international design festivals.
