Description
Google Art Project is an online compilation of high-resolution images of artworks from galleries worldwide, as well as virtual tours of the galleries in which they are housed. Launched on 1 February 2011, it includes works from the Tate Gallery (London), the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York City), the Uffizi (Florence), and others. Seventeen galleries were included at launch, with 1,061 high-resolution images by 486 artists shown in 385 virtual gallery rooms, with 6,000 Street View-style panoramas. Each institute contributed one item of gigapixel artwork.
