Description
Statistical election forecasting visualizations by FiveThirtyEight, showing probability distributions and scenario analysis for US presidential races. Founded by Nate Silver in 2008 as a blog (named after the 538 members of the Electoral College), the site gained prominence by correctly predicting 49 of 50 states in the 2008 election and all 50 in 2012. FiveThirtyEight's election models combine polling data, economic indicators, and historical patterns to produce probabilistic forecasts visualized through interactive maps, Senate and House forecasts, and win probability charts. The site was hosted by the New York Times (2010-2013) and then ESPN/ABC News (2013-2023).
