Description
The ChinaFile Anti-Corruption Campaign Visualization is a data journalism project that tracks Xi Jinping's widespread anti-corruption efforts since 2012, using official government announcements from the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) supplemented by major media reporting. This interactive database allows users to explore investigated officials sorted by sector, location, and timeline, categorizing targets as "Tigers" (high-level officials) and "Flies" (lower-level officials).
The visualization tracks investigation stages from initial investigation through expulsion/arrest to sentencing, providing transparency into professional backgrounds, geographic origins, disciplinary process status, and estimated financial misconduct amounts. This collaboration between ChinaFile, Asia Society, and Schema Design offers a data-driven approach to understanding political accountability in China, allowing users to explore both individual cases and broader patterns of enforcement within the anti-corruption campaign.
