Description
The Atlas of Sustainable Development Goals 2023 is an interactive data visualization resource produced by the World Bank that provides comprehensive storytelling and insights across all 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by UN member states in 2015. Drawing data from the World Bank's World Development Indicators database and collaborating with international organizations and researchers, the atlas helps users "discover, understand, and visualize progress towards achieving the SDGs" through interactive storytelling and visual representations.
The platform features individual story pages for each SDG with unique narrative focuses, such as "Progress, challenges in ending extreme poverty" for SDG 1, "The impact of COVID-19 on global health" for SDG 3, and "Realizing gender equality: A greater challenge with climate change" for SDG 5. Interactive features allow users to highlight specific countries for comparative analysis, explore a global data visualization globe, and examine trends for selected targets within each goal, while introducing measurement concepts for SDG indicators using data from diverse international sources.
